WHAT IS A COLON POLYP?
A COLON POLYP is a small clump of abnormal cells on the inner lining of the colon.
Most small colon polyps are harmless and can be removed safely and effectively during your colonoscopy.
WHAT MAKES A POLYP SIMPLE OR COMPLEX?
COLON POLYPS that are deemed too large, too complex, and/or too hard to reach during a typical colonoscopy screening are called COMPLEX POLYPS.
Complex polyps make up about 10-15% of all polyps, and typically require an additional procedure to remove.
YOU MAY HAVE OPTIONS FOR REMOVING YOUR COMPLEX POLYPS.
Depending on the unique circumstances of your polyp, your removal options may include both surgical and non-surgical approaches.
